Celina High School Class of 2026 Celebrates Over $662 Million in Scholarship Offers

The Class of 2026 at Celina High School has achieved something extraordinary—$662,550,680 in scholarship dollars across 13,509 total offers. For these seniors at this Texas high school, these numbers represent opened doors and accessible pathways to higher education.

A Historic Partnership

Celina Independent School District made history last year as the first school district in Texas to partner with VU Scholarships. Through this platform, students have been matched with scholarship opportunities from colleges and universities across 15 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Washington D.C.

"We're all about the next level thinking, and this is a great program to do that," said CISD Superintendent Thomas Maglisceau. "This is recognition of how great our kids are and how much they have to contribute to the world."

Making College Accessible

After parents opted in, Celina High School provided students' GPAs and applicable data to VU Scholarships, which matched them with scholarships based on their academic achievements. With an average of over 43 scholarship offers per senior, students have real choices in determining their educational futures.

"It's a testament to the [student's] hard work, and it is such an honor to do this for them [and] to make the process of going to college and university easier on them and their families," explained Celina High School Principal John Burdett.

VU Scholarships was founded by Edward Marquez to provide students with opportunities to attend college and inspire them to aspire for higher education. His son Andrew Marquez, now CEO of the platform, expressed excitement about Celina ISD being their pioneering Texas partner: "We're so blessed to have [Celina ISD] as our first partner. We're really excited about bringing this to more Texas schools."
